Rising from the coastline, the foothills of the Taurus Mountains ultimately reach to a height of 3,500 metres. A place of truly remarkable natural beauty, boasting forests, valleys, trickling mountain streams and dramatic waterfalls. 

Tourists and locals alike make for these cooler areas during the summer months, to escape the sizzling heat and humidity closer to the coastline.  Situated at approximately 1,000 metres high, locals breed goats that produce cheese and butter; in this area, traditional handicrafts are also kept alive, with examples offered for sale.
