Taras Shevchenko monument, Poltava, Ukraine. Taras Shevchenko was a famous Ukrainian poet and artist and has contributed largely to Ukrainian literature and language. Part of Ukraines cultural heritage Taras Shevchenko is notably apparent in numerous aspects with several monuments erected in his honour. Through his literary works he challenged political ideas, more importantly focusing on the class struggle in the Roman Empire.
