Picturesque Mousehole, Cornwall, UK. Sights, Places of Interest, Monuments and Landmarks of Cornwall, UK.
Described by poet Dylan Thomas as “the loveliest village in England”, Mousehole has undoubtedly continued to holds its charm over the years. This beautiful traditional fishing village really is what the minds eye might conjure up as the archetypal Cornish fishing village.
Records show that from as early as 1266, Mousehole played an important role as a fishing port, although sadly most of the brightly painted boats bobbing in the harbour nowadays are more for pleasure than fishing; happily not all though!
There are numerous pubs and cafes offering a wide range of food to suite all tastes and budgets, including of course a delicious selection of freshly caught fish. For those lucky enough to be staying for more than one day; there is a wide variety of bed and breakfasts, guest houses and self-catering accommodation. The only minor negative today is the shortage of parking, so for those with walking difficulties, a bit of planning ahead might be called for.
