Newfoundland and Labrador Emblem, Logo, Seal, Canada. One of the oldest coat of arms is Newfoundland and labrador. Originally granted in 1638 by King Charles I and after disuse was readopted in 1928. The shield illustrates two unicorns and two lions both crowned to signify the royal connotation to the Monarchy, lion represents England and the Unicorn represents Scotland. The supporters represent the native people the Beothuk residents who originally occupied Newfoundland.
