Kemer is located on the South coast of Antalya region. The history of Kemer is not well known. Previously the name of the place was, " Old village". In 1916 in Kemer after a strong flood, a long stone wall (23 km) was erected to channel the mountain stream water and protect the town from flooding. The word Kemer in the Turkish language means "belt".
