The Flag and the Emblem (Badge) of the Republic of Greece. The flag of Greece is based on two colours blue and white.  The national flag was adopted in 1978 and has a blue canton on the left upper part of the flag and within it a white cross which represents the Greek Orthodoxy. The flag has nine stripes alternating from blue to white.

The national emblem of Greece was adopted in 1975 and has a white cross within a blue escutcheon surrounded by laurel branches. This emblem is significant within military uniform.
