The Flag and the National Emblem (Badge) of the Republic of Bulgaria. The national flag of Bulgaria was first adopted after gaining independence after the Russo-Turkish War in 1879. The flag contains three equal horizontal bands white, green and red. After many changes of the flag incorporating the national emblem and changing the design over different government ruling, the flag was reinstated in 1991 by the new constitution of Bulgaria to its original style.

The coat of arms of Bulgaria is composed of three golden lions a shield with a crown located on the head of the shield. The crown represents the crowns of the Bulgarian kings and the banner at the bottom of the emblem states the national motto "Unity renders power".
