Canberra and Capital Territory Emblem, Logo, Seal, Australia. The coat of arms of Canberra was officially granted in 1928 and the design was submitted by Mr Wylie. After a few minor adjustments including a motto which reads "For the King, the Law and the People." the arms was approved by Royal Warrant. The castle within the shield symbolizes three branches of government by depicting three towers, the supporters illustrate both the significance of the Aboriginal people, Black Swan, and the European white settlers represented by the White Swan.
